Outreach
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”—John 15:12
Serving those in need in our community is a fundamental part of who we are as followers of Jesus. All Angels is a little church with a great big heart. We care for one another, welcome each others’ gifts, and then use those gifts to reach out to the larger community. We invite you to join us!
Appleton Episcopal Ministries
Appleton began as a home for orphaned daughters of Civil War soldiers. Today it remains the oldest social outreach ministry in the Diocese of Atlanta providing after-school programs and summer camps for both boys and girls. Appleton provides grants to parishes in the Macon Convocation to help with the funding of projects by those parishes.
Putnam Christian Outreach
Putnam Christian Outreach (PCO) is committed to changing lives in our community with food, shelter, household goods, and clothing. All Angels supports PCO with donations of funds and food.
Currently, All Angels supports PCO’s backpack ministry which provides supplemental food for almost 200 children on the weekends in the Putnam County school system every week, including the summer months. The students in this program are home alone and need meals which are easy for them to eat without needing to be heated. Volunteers shop, pack and deliver this food to the schools to be distributed to these children. This ministry is funded through grants and donations, such as the Episcopal Community Foundation grant that All Angels submitted in support of PCO’s backpack program.
During the school year, Golden Harvest Food Bank provides up to 120 packages of food, which includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 snacks and a drink. Volunteers, including those from All Angels, shop for food to supplement those packages with an additional meal and other items like milk for cereal. They also replace any food not easily opened or needing to be heated. On Tuesdays, volunteers pack the food which is delivered to the schools. During summer vacation, All Angels and other churches use grants and donations to continue to feed these children.
Firemen’s Fund for Christmas Presents
During the holidays, the Eatonton Fire Department collects donations to buy toys for children who otherwise would not receive a gift at Christmas. All Angels gives to this fund to bring joy into a child’s life.
Episcopal Relief and Development
Episcopal Relief and Development is the compassionate response of the Episcopal Church to human suffering in the world. Hearing God’s call to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being. Their mandate comes from Jesus’ words found in Matthew 25 (NRSV): “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
Aid to Ukraine
Barbara Fisher, one of our parishioners, discovered a need in Ukraine for CPR manikins, which All Angels fulfilled.
